Cool 3D accelerated ScreenSavers.
1) The Matrix. 61 KB. This is very cool,
and only requires directX 6 or better, rather than 3d acceleration.
2) Eye of the Storm.
2116 KB. A big old spinning globe, which if you have Internet access
will plot all the major storms on the globe.
3) Seti 3.03. 775 KB.
The famous search for extra-terrestial's goes on, and on your PC, while
your not using it.
4) DeskTop Destroyer.
94.5 KB. This takes a screen shot of your desktop, then explodes it
in 3D as you can see from the screen shot here. It's very cool and very
controllable.
5) GLWarp. 78 KB. This saver again,
takes a screen shot of your desktop, then drops water on it. The ripples
move and it's very cool, not to mention free.
6) Planets. 4678 KB. This is a waaaay
cool saver. It runs through the solar system in true 3D glory, with
lighting and very cool textures.
7) VoodooLights
1.24 MB. A very cool effects screen saver that gives you a ton of different
styles of effects. Very nice and soothing with some slow music on the
stereo. You can even hook this up as a plug in to Winamp.
8) 3DFish.395 KB.
This is the best aquarium screen saver I've ever seen. It looks amazingly
like a real aquarium, with true 3d fish swimming around there.
9) Cancer Cure Research Tool.
1862 KB. Very like Seti, except this one has more chance of succeeding.
Use your PC to help find cancer fighting drugs. Definitely worth while.
10) Mir Re-entry Simulation
1255KB. This is a pretty sweet representation of what the Mir Space
station looked like when re-entering the earths atmosphere in March
2001
11) A 3D Snowflake
emulation. 196 KB. This is pretty cute, but ultimately just fluff.
Looks like lots of 3d snowflakes fluttering down. How nice.
12) Astral
Planes. 1976 KB. Another one very like the planets saver above,
except this one is a little more realistic in it's distances. Still
not really ver realistic though:)
There are more coming, I'm also writing a small program that
replaces the screen saver with a program that randomly selects a screen saver
from a user edited list.
I also have an openGL screen saver I've written that needs two
things fixed on it, before I release it to the world. This will be open sourced,
so others can play with it at their leisure.
